I heard an attorney, who’s wife is a mental health professional in NY, on Fox one morning not long ago. He had written a book, at his wife’s behest, about the mental health issues created by heavy marijuana use, some of which included violent episodes. The gist of that interview was that his wife is certain that heavy marijuana use is becoming a major factor in violent crime because of its impact on mental and emotional health, but that fact is being ignored. We need to press the pause button and study this a little more before we rush headlong into legalization. I am not an expert on the matter, but there are some voices crying in the wilderness on this subject.

For crying out loud, can’t we make a decision anymore in this country based on a careful review of facts? Politics and cultural expediency make 99% of our policy decisions these days. That is a recipe for disaster.

I have first hand knowledge of what marijuana can do to people as I have a son whose life was destroyed by it. I see the idiotic statements here and elsewhere on the Net and am simply appalled by the abject ignorance.

As for the “psychotropic drugs” bandied here as evil, they have literally saved my son’s life multiple times. When he stays on them, and thankfully he now does, he stays sane. He has also finally learned that dopeheads are to be avoided at all costs as they try to convince him to smoke marijuana as they claim it will help him. Whenever he complied with their wishes, he would end up back in the hospital for a few weeks as it would send him to crazy town that he didn’t return from without help from the docs.

There is nothing more evil than the willfully ignorant dopehead imo. Most are liberals, but unfortunately, we have more than our fair share as well.

The psychoactive component of marijuana (THC) strongly increases dopamine in the brain. Modern marijuana has higher levels of THC than in the past. Where marijuana is legal, concentrated extracts of THC are available - very powerful, potentially allowing an individual to take hundreds or thousands of times a recreational dose.

Most anti-psychotic drugs are effective because they DECREASE dopamine in the brain. Psychotics, or borderline psychotics, are very vulnerable to the dopamine increasing effects of THC. With enough of dose of concentrated THC, everyone will hallucinate (the main characteristic of psychosis). Smoking marijuana cannot deliver a large enough dose for most people to hallucinate, but it can for borderline individuals.

Not everyone can handle their high the same, partly because their baseline dopamine systems vary among individuals. THC is contraindicated for psychotics, or borderline psychotics.

I see a lot of violent psychotic dope smokers on a daily basis. You can generally smell them as soon as you see them, they reek. Generally spaced out of their minds yelling and screaming and smashing things. Very dangerous.
