Weapons are not the answer to gun death crisis in the US (Major hurl Alert)

IMAGINE a country in which the perimeter of every school is surrounded by armed guards, with further armed guards located on each floor and where the students, parents, staff or visitors entering would have to pass through metal detectors to ensure they are not carrying guns. lt’a a place where the same measures would be applied to every shopping mall, with retired policemen or retired army personnel acting as volunteers to provide this service. Extend that then to every hospital, sports ground, cinema, concert venue, transportation hub - anywhere that might be vulnerable to somebody with an assault weapon who is willing to use it, ending possibly even hundreds, of lives by doing so. That would hardly lie the land or the free, would It? Yet these measures are exactly what Sean Hannity. the Fox News host, advocated the other evening in response to the most recent mass murders carried out by white Americans- the weekend atrocities in Dayton, Ohio and El Paso,. Texas - as an alternative to the far more logical measure of not selling such guns or disallowing the purchase of ammunition for those already in people’s hands.

Hannity’a nonsense would be disregarded easily only for the fact it plays to an approving audience of millions, which is bad enough, and one particular viewer. Included in Hannitys avid fan club is one President Donald Trump. He is Trumps TV interviewer of choice, because he knows Hannity facilitates his propaganda. Not only that, but it has been reported reliably that Hannity and Trump speak on the phone almost every day, sometimes for hours at a time. It Is from the likes of Hannity that Trump lakes counsel, which only adds to our fear of what Trump does and will do. The US has been in the grip of a murderous crisis for decades now, facilitated and exacerbated by the availability of not just, guns, but guns or the type that can extinguish multiple lives in seconds, further aided by magazines of ammunition that allows a shooter to work for minutes The right to bear arms, in self-defense, is a treasured one in American culture, protected by the constitution It has been perverted, however, by a toxic combination of the corporate greed of the armaments industry, the macho posturing of the gun owners and a cynically cultivated climate of fear that has been engendered to create the belief that owning a gun is the best defence against those who would kill you with theirs.

Every murderous atrocity is batted away with 'thoughts and prayers' for the victims, which does them no good and offers no protection to the next group of innocent people slain.

Thoughts and prayers did nothing for the victims of the Sandy Hook massacre. Twenty children, aged six and seven, and six staff members murdered by Adam Lanxa, who had already shot dead his own mother at their Newtown, Connecticut home Almost unbelievably, the parents of the victims have been subjected to horrific abuse for advocating gun controls and some have been told that the crime did not happen, that It is some sort of invention to try to take guns off people Rather than making the purchase of assault weapons illegal, their advocates use Sandy Hook as an example to peddle the line of having more armed people in the vicinity of schools is some form of protection. It. la entirely relevant to note that almost oil of these killing in recent years have been carried out by white men. but that the murders are so commonplace they are casually forgotten Who for example, remembers Stephen Paddock? In October 2017 this 64-year-old killed 58 people and wounded 422 others when he fired upon a crowd at a concert in Las Vegas, from his suite in the 32nd floor of a hotel. He discharged more than 1,100 rounds of ammunition before he shot himself, the deadliest mass shooting committed by an Individual In the history of the US Imagine if an immigrant had done this, the reaction that would have come from President Trump?

Instead. Trump called Paddock sick and demented, without- any evidence to prove his contentions. as If to explain Paddock’s actions as aberrations, that he was some kind of outlier. instead of the latest, If most deadly, manifestation of an epidemic. Trump did the same this week in response to the latest outrages by white killers, even as one was in custody, and the investigating officer said no such conclusion could be reached. But such outrages by white men have to be explained away if Trump and his fix are to continue to demonize people of nonwhite skin as the perpetrators of an alleged crime epidemic in the US. To them all terrorism is the fault of foreigners, so domestic terrorism can never be called out for what it is The US seems willfully blind to the reasons for the horrors within its own borders: there may he indeed be sort of wide spread collective psychosis driving the paranoia of many white and nationalist citizens but it is the easy availability of guns that allows it to manifest in the most deadly of fashions

ln recent days, the most spurious und nonsensical of reasons have put forward to 'explain' the shooting epidemic. Violent video games are the latest malware apparently their violence motivates gamers to repeal their on-screen actions for real. If this was true then why hasn't Japan, with the largest such volumes of users of game in the world suffered any single such outrage in recent decades? Or anywhere else?

Canards abound everywhere On Monday as Ohio came to terms with its latest tragedy. State Representative Candice Keller, a Republican, engaged in an epic facebook rant which summed up the sad state of the US.

She wrote: 'After every mass shooting, the liberals start the blame game. Why not place the blame where it belongs? "the breakdown of the traditional American family (thank you, transgender, homosexual marriage, and drag Queen advocates), fatherlessness, a subject no-one discusses or believes is relevant; the ignoring of violent video games, the relaxing of the laws against criminals(open borders) the acceptance of recreational marijuana, failed school policies (hello, parents who defend misbehaving students ), disrespect to law enforcemeni (thank you, Obama), hatred of our Veterans (thank you. professional athletes who hate our flag and National Anthem), the Dem Congress, many members who are openly anti-Semitic; the culture which totally Ignores the Importance of God and the church ‘until they elect a President); state office holders, who have no interest whatsoever in learning about our Constitution and the Second Amendment; and snowflakes, who can't accept a duly elected President.

'Did I forget anybody? The list is long. And the fury will continue.’

Keller subsequently deleted her post but 1 Imagine ' hat many have pointed out to her than her three-married president isn't fly values, is a draft dodger and had shown no Interest In religion until it became politically expedient for him to start dragging God into his teleprompted speeches But it was interesting that she cited the second amendment, the constitutional amendment from the 18th century that has become a bumper sticker for 2lst century gun activists. Iit reads: "A well regulated militia. being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and hear arms, shall not be infringed " That is open to multiple interpretations. But it is impossible to imagine that those who wrote and enacted it had any idea that day in the future citizens would be using military style rifles of the kind they have today, capable of allowing shooters to discharge many rounds of ammunition without reloading, reducing the time in which potential victims can flee They should never have to flee Americans, and visitors to their country, should be free to do the normal everyday things of without succumbing to fear Increasing the number of guns und people carrying them, in the name of security, will only erode further the freedoms that Americans so crave.

Each nation is different, and as you noted, mass killers use whatever technique is available to them.

In Japan we've seen Sarin gas and arson. "At least 33 people died and dozens were injured after a man set fire to an animation studio in the Japanese city of Kyoto, officials say."

"But such outrages by white men have to be explained away if Trump and his fix are to continue to demonize people of nonwhite skin as the perpetrators of an alleged crime epidemic in the US."

That sounds like another racist mouthful from a leftist. There actually isn't a crime epidemic in the US, except perhaps in a few minority areas where gangs are fighting over turf. The residents of those areas, who are both the majority of victims, and the majority of perpetrators, are not worried about white men shooting them.

Agree, In the UK they use knives or throw acid in your face.

I think the deplorables should all carry loping shears and solve this problem in one generation.

Lock up the crazies. Too crazy for a gun, too crazy for a car to go to the mall or a moie.

If Walmart had a couple of fully armed greeters at the front door history would have been different, or having a large percentage of shoppers with open carry.

This was a torturous read!

Here is a simpler idea. If you are prescribed and take mood altering drugs you are banned from owning a gun. I am not saying I favor this idea. In fact I don’t. But 1) it is a lot more sensible than trying to infringe the rights of every American for a few nutcases and 2) I am making a larger point about the rights of people. I bet millions on the left would resent infringement of their rights based on their taking an SSRI drug.

And yet, the correlation between mass shooters and drug use/prescription drug use is not well explored. But if you look at the label of any one of these prescriptions they will tell you in black and white that one of the rare side effects exhibited in some people who take them is psychosis, rage, hallucinations etc. Even if this only occurs in 1 per 10,000 people (and I believe the rates are much higher than that) then that’s 100 crazed people for every 1 million who take them. Now consider that White Boys are at the ‘highest risk’ so to speak to be pressured onto these drugs by the public schools! They see prescriptions as a quick fix to personal discipline and disciplinary actions - like the drugs they used to sell to mothers at the turn of the century.

Crazy indiscriminate mass murderers aside, the vast majority of gun murders and gun assaults occur in highly concentrated areas of just a few square blocks in a few major cities and they are nearly all related to drugs. Heroin, Cocaine, Meth, Fentanyl etc are 100% illegal and yet 1400 people die each week from overdosing on these drugs. Banning something doesn’t make it go away. Many if not most of the people arrested for gun related assaults/murders are prohibited from owning a gun as it is. I personally believe that the problems are less to do with guns and more to do with other issues - and scapegoating guns won’t address the problems at all.

For every Japan, I raise you a Mexico or Canada. Both have very strict gun laws. Mexico has a homicide rate 50% higher than the US. Toronto, Canada had nearly 100 homicides in 2018.

I know people don’t want to hear this but no child should be allowed to leave school until they graduate high school. If they misbehave they have to do community service for minor offenses. If they do quit school they forfeit all rights to any government benefits and go on a parole program. If they are incorrigible, they go to military-style boot camp school. Education is the key. Now the sex....I’d sterilize anyone under the age of 18 for producing a child.

Ask that guy in Maryland. He was Red Flagged. Of course you will have to dig him up to talk with him, if they buried him, the police might have filled him so full of lead that he was just shipped to the foundry.

You can believe it or not, but once the Red Flag shrinks get their hooks into you. they will find something wrong with you. AS far as they are concerned, there is no such thing as innocence. Their motto will be: With all this horseshit, we know there is a pony buried somewhere and we are going to dig until we find it.
