A shock 2016 study argued that the U.S. accounted for nearly one-third of all mass shootings, sparking global headlines about the dangers of an American gun culture.
Now another researcher says the original study botched the data.
John R. Lott Jr., president of the Crime Prevention Research Center, crunched the numbers and said his count shows that the U.S. had less than 3 percent of the worlds mass public shootings over a 15-year period.

Is this a Washington Times story and link?
The same type of false statistic that says young, white males are responsible for most of the murders in the U.S.

And the ones that did happen were overwhelmingly perpetrated by blacks.
bkmk
That’s only when you include gang shootings. John Lott has a piece on this myth. The data show that the demographics of mass shootings are very much like the demographics of other types of homicides with blacks slightly overrepresented and whites slightly underrepresented.
The mentally ill, regardless of skin color, however are super overrepresented compared to the population as a whole.
Almost all the islamic terrorist shootings are outside the states, thank god.
Lots of BS stats in the media on all sorts of topics. On guns, the claim that the universal background checks stopped 3 million felons from buying guns is patent nonsense. If that were true then ask yourselves why there haven’t been 3 million prosecutions? Or 1 million? Or even 100,000?
The truth is that the vast majority of the 3 million were initial rejections based on the applicant having a similar name as a prohibited person. The database checks for names that are spelled the same or sound the same phonetically, or swapping out a middle name for a first name etc. Amazingly the system does not check birth date or ID number etc. Just names. If you get flagged, you have to clear up the matter and in some cases this can cost thousands of dollars, which disproportionately harms the poor and minority groups which tend to have similar names.
I saw a news reporter/anchor claim that there has been more mass shootings in the United States this year than days so far. I kid you not.
The vast majority of young black males that commit mass shootings how some kind of gang affiliation... murder is murder

I guess that if they NOW count all the shooting in inner cities where more than ONE person was hit the reporter is somewhat correct...and probably low.
(They have been sitting on these stories for a reason)
One BAD thing of using pen and paper...
That paper just lays there and one can put whatever they want on it.
He said that in the context of the slaughter Saturday.
