A billion here, and a billion there, pretty soon you’re talking about some REAL corruption

What bothers me A LOT is that a YUGE percentage of the population has no concept of how much larger a billion is than a million and a trillion is than a billion.

So annual deficits of $1,000,000,000,000 don’t have nearly enough cognative impact on those of us whose pockets are getting picked

The USS Ford displaces about 100,000 tons. Stand next to it or to any modern aircraft carrier....IT WILL TAKE YOUR BREATH AWAY

They are Giants alongside the Pier.

Now imagine 10,000 of them.

That’s a billion tons

Now imagine 1,000 FLEETS OF 10,000 USS Fords each

THAT’S a trillion tons.

Since “bi” as a prefix usually means “two” as in ... a bicycle has two wheels..., many people think that a billion is two million. That is off by a factor of 500. Pictures of physical objects, such as your image of the aircraft carriers, makes the reality of a billion more clear. Numbers alone are too abstract for most people to fully understand.

When it comes to taxpayer money, either collecting or spending, many who deal with these numbers are happy to keep people fooled.
