Most people around the country don't worry much about being gunned down on the sidewalk on the south side of Chicago unless they live there. They do worry about being gunned down at their local Walmart, or food festival, or bar, or school, or mall, or music festival, or church, or their workplace.
Chicago chiming in?
Chicago, where these numbers represent a more or less typical Saturday evening?
Communities are not made of fiber. They are made of people. The shootings happen because community cohesion and trust have already been destroyed. First the politicians destroy their value system, then they keep them dependent. Shootings arise from the degradation. It is impossible to stop the shootings until the above problems are fixed, and given democrat leadership, they won’t be fixed.
So true, and well said. People like to believe they have some control over their fate. We all like to think we can avoid becoming victims ourselves if we stay out of trouble.
But these types of shootings show that mass murder can happen randomly anywhere at any time. That frightens people and sells the news.
Yes, these crimes are just as important, but they happen so often in the cities that the national media practically ignore them. Even the local news media doesn’t pay much attention to them.
I believe they are ignored because they don’t fit the leftist agenda. Remember the 2016 election reporting? Uneducated white people voting for Trump. Never once heard another demographic referred to as “stupid”. Never once did I hear it reported that Hilary lost because black men did not vote in the same numbers as they did for Obama. I hate the news media with a passion.
Chicago doesn’t count.
Everyone hates the news media. Only the news media love themselves.
Many here on this forum believe the news doesn’t pay attention to black-on-black crime due to a political agenda.
Meanwhile, in those high-crime cities, the locals believe the news media doesn’t care about black victims.
IMHO, with crime reporting, it’s simply the nature of the news to focus on what rarely happens - the sensational stories that sell the news (and the advertisements).
All true but a lot is said by what the media chooses not to report.
True but when they report a stat like 250 mass killings the reader or watcher is left to interpret that as all white shooters in a random spree as they have no knowledge that the vast majority are not.
The Saint Valentines Day Massacre started a national public outrage that was the beginning of the end for Al Capone. Today 7 murders might not even make the front page news.
The fiber of those communities was destroyed long ago with the obliteration of family. The violence is only a symptom.
Mostly black youth gang members against black youth gang members and nobody gives a damn.
Not even their parents if they know who they are
