The magazine has tape visible all over it, so presumably he had two magazines taped together for quick reloading. His t-shirt is also riding up well above his waist, so he some kind of belt on under it or something tucked in his waistband, as well as visibly bulging pockets.

I think it looks like one of those tan tapco type magazines, not tape. As far as shirt, it looks like the right hand side of his shirt is tucked in. Perhaps to hide the extra magazines? Seems like you would see the butt of the magazine printing on the shirt.
The pants do not seem to be weighed down, and with even one ak mag, those pants should be weighed down as 30-40rds of 7.62 weigh quite a bit.
Also, as I noted earlier, I suggest he needed at least 3 magazines to do the damage he did. Two magazines hid on his person? Maybe, but at this point why hide the magazines? I mean if you are stepping out of your car with an AK in hand, why all the fuss about hiding the spare mags?
