The sailors were just that . . . sailors. Mercenaries, men for hire. They were hirelings assigned by Spain to do a job. It stands to reason that Columbus tried to win them to Christ as well, but they were looking for gold and native women — not a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ.

Actually his crew was not entirely Christian. He had a pretty diverse crew due to so many people being afraid to sail into the unknown.
