And this is a guy from an area of the world where they get a lot of sunshine. Take off the clown suit, and he's Italian or Greek. The census people who created these classifications a century ago were pretty big on race differences. They did not create them on impulse. There were all kinds of legal and societal implications for those affected by these classifications, ranging from whether they could own land to whom they could marry.
