As I watched the Democratic presidential candidate debates this week, something struck me that I believe will prove important in 2020: The candidates have nothing they can defend and nothing tangible to attack.
The American economy is in great shape. Unemployment remains incredibly low historically low for African-Americans and Latinos, in fact. And despite clear hurdles, Republicans have been taking proactive steps to fix the biggest problems in health care consistently the No. 1 issue on the minds of Americans.
So the Democrats have been aggressively on offense and pulling from the radical lefts playbook. What they seem not to realize is that most of the American people arent with them.
Consider the comments of Sen. Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts in her debate this week.
Warren said: "We need to call out white supremacy for what it is domestic terrorism and it poses a threat to the United States of America We live in a country now where the president is advancing environmental racism, economic racism, criminal justice racism, health care racism. The way we do better is to fight back and show something better."
Recall that this is a candidate who lied about her own ethnicity to advance her career. Then couple this with recent calls by Warren and other Democrats to tax Americans to pay reparations for slavery based on genealogical tests.
Slavery was indeed a horrible, un-American institution in our nations history but no one alive today was a slave or a slave owner.

“Black Americans should be praising Slavery. Were it not for being enslaved and sold, their unequal ancestors would have been enslaved and died in Africa. It was inequality that allowed them to be captured and sold into slavery.”
Should they praise slavery for breeding them like animals or their “owners” raping their women?
Should they praise it for splitting up families?
Should they praise it for abusive beatings? For lynch mobs who murdered blacks for crimes they were not convicted of?
Black Americans should thank God that He providentially allowed them to be born into the greatest nation on earth, with abundant opportunities and a legal system that protects their rights.
Joseph in the Bible was sold into slavery by his brothers which ultimately led him to become the second in command in Egypt. When he later rescued his family from famine, he said to his brothers, “You meant it for evil, but God meant it for good.”
Just because God causes good to come out of evil does not make evil itself good. It does not resolve the guilt of those who did evil. Their descendants later became slaves in Egypt, and I’ll assume you know the rest of that story.
So, if you and your children get sold into slavery by human traffickers, will you then “praise Slavery”?
Should have picked our own damned cotton.
Just because God causes good to come out of evil does not make evil itself good.
