Honestly, I’d rather have Ratcliffe in the House.

I agree

It wasn't a matter of faith nor repentance...nor putting faith in Trump or any other candidate at the time. As most know it was a matter of politics and choice. ..and further investigation on my own of our now President Trump.

It was this quote that got their hackles up where they decided on the Left and the Media (redundant) to slander him, slander his family, dig up every single thing they could (true or not) and plaster it across every media outlet available and hype it incessantly:

"...What I do know, as a former federal prosecutor, is, it does appear that there were crimes committed during the Obama administration. We talked earlier about Michael Flynn. His phone call with the Russian ambassador was a highly classified NSA intercept..."

It is that quote, pure and simple that made them pull out the stops, knowing full well they would have the support of NeverTrumpers (including those on FR) RINOs, and every person on the Left and in the media.

Ratcliffe sees things clearly with respect to crimes committed by the Obama administration (specifically surveillance abuses and the illegal setup and leaking) that is clear. Is there any doubt the Left and RINOs would squeal and fight with everything at their disposal rather than allow this man to be DNI?

I do agree with some posters here on a few key points, though:

I believe that Ratcliffe is more valuable to Trump as a member of the house.

A USMC sergeant is adequate to clean out the nest of snakes in DNI.

Hopefully Trump picks someone just as good or better, but if the media and republican senators forced Ratcliffe out they will do the same to anyone who's just as good. There's a reason for people to be concerned about this whether you want to admit it or not. We all hope Trump chooses someone good, but to pretend you already know he will is ridiculous. Trump has made mistakes with several of his picks up until now, so it's ignorant to act like it's never-Trumpers criticizing him now.

I would rather Trump force republican senators to show their hands. Guys like Lindsey Graham need to face a primary from a real MAGA candidate. The guy is only pro-Trump so he doesn't have to face a primary challenge since he's up for reelection in 2020. He hated Trump, and refused to endorse him in 2016. Graham still doesn't agree with Trump or the MAGA agenda on trade, immigration, or foreign intervention. The fact that so many have forgotten his long history, and behavior leading up to the 2016 election, is proof of how easy it is to manipulate people with a short term act that makes them forget about years of pushing establishment BS. If Graham is reelected he will be there for 6 more years working for the establishment and criticizing Trump who will leave office at least 2 years before he does.

When I concluded my own investigations of candidate Trump in December 2015, I knew that he was the man to destroy the Democrat Media Death Star.

That's why I went all in during the FR primary wars.

This business of appointing 70+ Originalist members of The Federalist Society to the Federal bench has just been a delicious bonus entree at the Trump feast.

“Honestly, I’d rather have Ratcliffe in the House.”

Strategically, that makes sense to have a strong ally like Ratcliffe in the House. All the whining never-Trumpers and Soros trolls will be along shortly to scream like little girls and bash Trump.

Probably so. Anybody the deep state fought so hard to keep out obviously was going to expose them. You can blame GOP senators 100%.

Sounds more like Ratcliff (and family) doesn’t want an anal exam like they gave Kavanaugh

The friggin nerve. They actually considered action against him.

WASHINGTON – Supreme Court Associate Justice Brett Kavanaugh cannot be disciplined for his behavior during last year's Senate confirmation battle, a federal judicial panel ruled Thursday.

At least Ratcliffe didn’t go through the corrosive process which might have hurt him in the House. Small consolation there.

“I’d rather have Ratcliffe in the House too. I don’t understand the hysteria with others here.”

The hysteria is perfectly understandable. It allows FR’s resident doom and gloom defeatists to run around and screech like little girls.

Thanks for this post. The NeverTrumpers, RINOs, and socialists have us in a pickle, despite Trump’s best effort.

You bring up some very salient points. I still like the idea of giving Flynn a full pardon and then putting him in that slot.

You know that would pucker more than a few obamas.

Yes. We lost c.44, we are losing more. He is one the few apparent conservatives. I was not happy with his nomination.

I would take Flynn as well, and I love the “in your face” message it would convey, but I think we will have to be content with a pardon being the best we can hope for. Too much baggage now.

When his own party won’t support him, you know there is an unsavory dynamic driving things.

I appreciate that his own party obviously told them they won’t get a good vote, but...that fact in and of itself is disturbing.

Sometimes it appears that Trump is simply going it alone, which makes me respect him even more.

He isn’t perfect, but he is better than our people who put “kick me” signs willingly on their backs.

Ok, so how long are you guys going to keep repeating the same (correct) observations about Barr, the deep state, et al? When is it time to move on, to begin conducting a postmortem in order to start crafting future moves?

At some point, the Allies had to recognize that France was lost; but that didn't mean the war was over. Rather, it simply meant the theatre(s) would change, strategies would be altered, targeted re-evaluated and tactics revised.

If FR is going to allow a group of mystics to form a separate, stand alone and cordoned off protected zone, what about those thinking rationally about the long game? The one that addresses realities like population substitution, erosion of constitutional rights, and the corruption of justice and unequal treatment before the law?

When is it time to admit conservatives got played by Trump, who said all the right things, but at the end of the day was unwilling to either call out the militia and/or declare certain states/departments in rebellion? Without these kinds of calls to action, the deep state could leisurely employ every legal device at their disposal to not only avoid justice, but also to prosecute an attempted coup with no personal danger to themselves.

So, it's over - for now. But what then? That's what we should be discussing, perhaps generating a historical record for future reference.
