I believe it is the municipal unions rank and file who support Democrats.
Really? What percentage of public union members have stopped paying dues after Janus....?
So illegal alien invaders take priority over someone actually in pain with a broken ankle?
DING! DING! DING!
We have a winner! The Union bosses and the Democrat Nominees are going to sell to the union rank and file, that they will get an exemption, and they probably will...for a while.
But, once the government NEEDS those union funds to keep the medical ponzi scheme going, their exemption will be gone! And regardless, the unions won’t be able to vote their way out of this mess, because by that time the government healthcare system will be another entrenched welfare program that NEVER, EVER GOES AWAY!!
Trumka is a Marxist a-hole. He and his gang will support the Rats no matter what.
Trumka the hypocrite! He used to head the United Mine Workers Union.
But the Democrats boast about destroying the mining industry.
“Those jobs are never coming back,” said Obummer and other Dems.
Trumka is paid over $400,000 plus perks while his union constituents fear about losing their livelihoods.
Trumka makes me puke!
It is the money the democrats want from the unions....
What you said.
Yeah, whatever. Obamy swore to shut down mines. What did the miners’ union do? They went all out for the guy who’s platform was to put them all on the unemployment line. Do a way back search for the UMWA homepages cheering him on.
Lots of reasons for cautious optimism here. Blue-collar America supports the blue-collar billionaire.
I am not cautious about this in the least...
Trump won on the backs of blue collar working class... they are not going to abandon him.. in fact, far more will vote for him this time than last because they have SEEN him actually deliver and deliver big.
Knew he was going to take a big segment out of this bloc in 16, and fully expect it to be much bigger in 2020.
There is NO path to the White House for ANY Democrat, short of a black swan event, in 2020.
Just like I accurately predicted Trump was going to take EVERY state in the rust belt, with the exception of IL and MN in 16, my prediction for 2020 is the following:
Trump will take EVERY state he got in 16.
He will take most if not all states he got over 45% of the vote in in 16
He will take the battle to states he got between 40 and 45% in 16 and probably pull a few of those as well.
Absolute HIGH water mark for the Democrats, (regardless of the nominee) is about 15-16 states plus DC.
If they put up a whackadoo, (which is very likely) they may not be able to get 10 states plus DC.
Trump will be re-elected by the largest margin since Reagan, though the actual dynamics of 2020 are lining up more like 1972. The economics are lining up like 1984, but the political dynamics are closer to 1972. There is ZERO path for any Democrat to the White House.
The only question about 2020 is how big are Trumps coattails... I fully expect, unless the GOP screws it up, which is always a possibility, that they will retake the house handily, and increase their Senate margin as well.
If they don’t get card check within a few years all of these big union muckety-mucks will be out of a job.
THAT is what all this is really about.
Even the neighbors that don't openly support Trump, often give me a thumbs up but the open demonRATS scowl or look away when I wave and greet them.
F'em, the more they scowl, the more I wave and say hello...they hate it and it ruins their day that I am so smiling and happy, and they are so pissed off all the time.
Next year at this time, my yard signs and cameras will go up, my Trump 2020 bumper stickers will go on my vehicles and the local Trump haters will go into deep depression.
Some will want to deface my signs, but everyone in my neighborhood knows I have cameras and know that I carry, so good sense will over take their urge for destruction.
“Really? What percentage of public union members have stopped paying dues after Janus....?”
According to Luegle (After the Janus ruling, AFSCME lost 98 percent of its agency fee-paying members, while the SEIU lost 94 percent. )
From the perspective of the unions, you can read the executive summary here, https://www.manhattan-institute.org/public-sector-unions-after-janus. Basically it says that unions, while losing some payments, have for the most part kept it’s members, while even adding some.
I would think that another 2-3 years will provide enough data to give a better statistical sample.
Sure; that is why union members are winning the right to withhold dues spent on lobbying. They were being forced to subsidize political positions with which they didn’t agree/had no input.
