The Democratic presidential primary debates set for this September will be decidedly more difficult for candidates to qualify for than the first round of debates.
The number of donors candidates must receive is doubled to a minimum of 130,000, with at least 400 donors coming from 20 different states or US territories. The candidates will also have to obtain at least 2% in four separate polls approved by the Democratic National Committee.
And unlike the first two sets of debates in June and July, candidates will have to meet both the polling and donor minimums, instead of hitting just one of them.
That could thin out the field considerably, with many candidates very far from meeting either threshold, let alone both. Here are the candidates who have qualified so far.

What? No Marianne Williamson, no Bill de Blasio in the next round? No other anonymous politicians we never heard of until they decided to run for president?
the hard stat is the 2% polling... the money can be manipulated... wait, so can the polling... nevermind.
Oh great. We still have to deal with the 1/1024 American Indian. :-/
Castro, Yang and Gabbard occasionally reach 2% in the polls, so it’s up to their donor base.
The party of the little guy relies on media exposure/push polling and money, thus ensuring that the little guy will never have a prayer.
This is all just a charade. Out there lurks Shrillary and Moochelle. One of them will be the eventual nominee. These also rans are just in it to get network gigs, book deals, lobbying jobs, and to enhance their Deep State standing!
When will Joe announce The Wookiee will be his VP pick
these are tough criteria, in my opinion.
They not only need certain minimal support in polls, but certain minimum donations, and those donations need to be spread among a certain number of donors, and those donors need to be from numerous different states.
But, they need to do something to narrow down the field. Can you imagine if 20+ candidates were still active going into the Iowa caucuses and New Hampshire primary, what a circus that would be?
It seems that CNN is picking the candidates. Whoever gets to choose the crazies that cheer or jeer off camera can make the difference between Joe Biden being acceptable or too conservative. Also the polls can make a huge difference. Polling California, a place that does not really matter in electing a president can sway things toward the crazies.
This debate thing is a good way to choose a president if your president is nothing but a spokes person for the swamp. But if he actually runs things, if he is expected to be the top executive, then debates are a poor test for choosing the best person for the job.
I love how they just dream up some numbers to qualify the Candidates.
Must be same People that came up with the $15 an Hour Minimum Wage.
The Democrat Platform, pull it out of your Ass and see if it flies.
Can you imagine the primary candidates of the 1960s and 1970s having to play by these type of rules?
I thought Booker dropped out a week ago. Who was it who did?
Winning a Democratic debate is like the Special Olympics, the winner is still retarded.
Tulsi Gabbard cleaned up on the Drudge poll last night...I recall that she did well on the first debate also...
Drudge got the GOP debates right every time when Trump ran.
Once again, the “Dem Fix” is in.

Kamala Harris had to be disappointed in last night’s performance, considering the effort she had been putting out to get to this point.
