Social media is anything in which you can share thoughts and ideas. The fact you can share personal messages and content, related to news and blog about it makes it “social.” Is it pure social media? No. But the definition of social media is a “website and other online means of communication that are used by large groups of people to share information and to develop social and professional contacts.” It’s “computer-based technology that facilitates the sharing of ideas, thoughts, and information.” That pretty much sums FR up.

If you’re going to be that loose in your definition, a pamphlet is social media, and so is a telephone.

Truth of the matter is that “social media” is an empty marketing buzzword with no useful definition.
