We are having a mild summer in Atlanta. One day last week it was only 78 degrees.

Same here in East Texas. I looked it up not long ago, end of July to 1st days of August 1998 was 106° to 108° here for 3 or 4 days, hottest I’d ever seen. normal average is about 104°, with an occasional 105° thrown in. Aug 1, 1998 was 107°, Aug 2 was 108°. All the other high temps for August are before 1962, one high in 2000 of 109° on Aug 31.

This summer so far, I think 94° is the hottest I’ve seen, maybe 96°. I think 98° was predicted a few times, don’t think it ever made it.

The last time our area got 108° was 1935 & 1962. All time high was 110° in 1909. The year 2011 had a few fairly consistent temps of 105° and 106° during August. This year has been mild...so have the last 15 or so, with a few high temps around 105°in 2011. All the other high temps for August are before 1962.
