The next step is to eliminate “safety” inspections for cars. In the “great” state of Maryland, home to Baltimore, car purchases require an inspection. Generally, the mechanic charges $75 for the inspection and almost always finds $1000-1500 in safety repairs.

So, a poor young man wants to get a job but has no transportation. Without these dumb inspections disenfranchising poor people, he could work hard, score rides to work for a few weeks and save up $500 for a rolling roadblock. Then, 3 months later, he trades up for a $2000 car and later a $6000 car. Next comes independence and success.

In liberal land, he’ll never get ahead enough to spend $1500 on his $500 car to make it “safe.”

Who are the racists again?

Huh?
Minimum wage would not apply in these “enterprise zones,” so businesses would flock in & create jobs?

Why would innercity people line up for below minimum wage jobs?
Especially since welfare already pays at current minimum wage and higher?

Other blacks use the race card to stop that process.

Self esteem and pride are two very strong factors here. There are many in the black community that understand the advantages of working for a living and advancing one self BEYOND what is currently available via handout programs. Currently, these folks have few options but to simply stay on the dole as jobs are few and far between in their neck of the woods. Any sort of employment which offers advancement from job experience is a better ticket out of poverty than what has been in place now for the past fifty years. How do you break the cycle? With jobs, not handouts. Many would opt the job route to future prosperity for themselves as well as their children.

They wont.

The underlying mentality is, white is inherently superior. White people got money. Therefore, white people must fix it for them.

Conversely, any blacks who try to clean it up themselves are immediately accused of “acting white.”

These self defeating mentalities were learned on the plantation and continue on the gubbermint plantation.

That’s why they continue defending their sh%tholes as black “culture.”

The more self-respecting blacks who are stuck in the ghetto do nothing except complain, or else they work hard, save up, and move out.

In my years in the innercity, we had a Neighborhood Watch & a Civic group. We’d send out advance notices & reminders on the day of every meeting.

NOT ONCE, in 12 years of meetings, did ANY of the very nice people -—who regularly knocked on my door to complain about crime, trash, graffiti, etc— bother to attend.

Attendees were always the same 5 or 6 white people & 2 black women who owned rental property but lived out in the white suburbs.

OK, how about letting them receive their benefits at a reduced rate which when added to their income from these jobs still adds up to MORE than their benefits total currently? This way, they have incentive to work because it will mean an increase in the amount of money they have. Also, it will reduce the amount of benefit money currently being sent to them which is a net gain to the taxpayer. I am simply suggesting that ways can be found to increase the chance of success with this “private enterprise” approach.

I admire your enthusiasm.
But those in Baltimore (and most everyone in the USA) are essentially being forced to run a race with only one leg. And no crutches and no wheel chair, etc.
The “education establishment” (sometimes called “public schools”) has gutted the literacy and competence of multiple consecutive generations. They do a real good job of keeping the “bruthas and sistahs” down. And they don’t do many favors for Whitey either.
The NEA says bullkrap like “it’s for the children”, and then they support murder of children (i.e., abortion). And they also teach victimhood.
I think there are good teachers out there. But they too have their hands tied.

Again, I disagree.

Why would anyone ACCEPT a below-minimum-wage job WHICH DOES NOT EVEN PAY THE BILLS and would require a second job, or maximum overtime, to barely scrape by?

Which in turn risks pushing them above the income eligibility line, resulting in a reduction or even a complete loss of benefits!!

It’s simple arithmetic.
At 7.50 hr, working full time (before Trump’s tax cuts) resulted in income below $15k and federal income taxes of $1000 or more annually & not enough left even to cover RENT & utilities!
Thus, people CHOSE to reduce hours to part time, eliminating the taxes & maximizing benefits.
Not because they’re lazy bums, but because they did their arithmetic & figured it out.

Welfare already paid better, & it isn’t taxed.

Trump’s tax cuts— the doubling of both the individual exemption and child tax credits— is what helped the minimum wage working poor more willing to increase their work hours & to take on a second job.

A parent of 2 can now work & bring home about $25k before income taxes kick in.
Before, there was no point earning more than about $12-14k— you’d just give most of it back in taxes.

Dont forget— just getting to work is expensive. In my state, gas is taxed @ 38 cents per gallon.
When gas hit $4 gallon awhile back, many minimum wage workers couldn’t even afford to drive to work.

You’re also suggesting even more “immigrants” be allowed to work in “North Mexico” & send money south, out of the American economy.
No. Just no.
Our working poor need less competition, not more.

They also need more incentives to keep moving UP, to go to vo-tech, on-the-job training, or reasonably priced colleges to learn higher paying SKILLS & get off the minimum wage treadmill altogether.

The LAST thing they need is to be knocked back down to even lower wages.

I’m not against private enterprise, dont get me wrong. Nor am I in favor of welfare.

The current tax-and-spend welfare state has created an entitlement mentality and a multi-generational underclass that will require decades to correct.

I agree with you that only creative private enterprise can solve the problems eventually; government never will.

Consider this: Supermarkets provide neighborhood jobs & work-your-way-up management opportunities for unskilled workers.

But there are no supermarkets in ghettos. Why?
The corporations wont even go there, due to the high crime, liabilities, high insurance, & shoplifting losses.
They dont want their employees getting robbed & shot.

The neighborhood must be safe & profitable before companies will invest.
Basic moral values & personal responsibility must replace the entitlement mentality once again.

Offering below minimum wage jobs will just make the natives more surly & feel more entitled to steal.

People in the Bronx would have lined up for Amazon’s $15 hr jobs. Security around the perimeter was do-able.
AOC sabotaged all that.

“”Trump should start a “clean up Baltimore” Gofund me account ....millions would be donated.. Then he could troll Cummings even more.....””

Wouldn’t that be a hoot? You’re absolutely right - worth a donation.

Sorry but Baltimore will always be a craphole as long as they keep voting in people and not holding them accountable. How can an asshole like Cummings keep gettting elected over and over again? It’s because he is black, period. Just a man by his color and not results

No businesses will locate to the inner cities until they can reasonably expect a secure workplace for themselves and their workers. This will not occur under current rat control conditions.
