Everything is fine and dandy!
So says House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who tweeted out a picture of her and smiling sparring partner Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez to prove that, despite the two sniping back and forth, that all is well in the Democratic “family.”
Pelosi declared they’re BFFs after the duo had a tête-à-tête Friday after months of acrimony, and the veteran speaker later compared her caucus to a squabbling family that at times needs to get together to clear the air.
“In our caucus we have our differences. Respect that instead of making a big issue of it. Respect that. Those are our differences and how we express ourselves as representatives of our districts is our responsibility,” Pelosi told reporters at the Capitol, as the House was set to adjourn for its summer recess.
Pelosi was so eager to convince the political world that there was peace and love in the Democratic caucus that she tweeted out a photo of the pair standing together and beaming broadly — while AOC didn’t comment on the meeting.
“Today, Congresswoman @RepAOC and I sat down to discuss working together to meet the needs of our districts and our country, fairness in our economy and diversity in our country,” Pelosi wrote.
Asked if she and AOC, 29, had “buried the hatchet,” Pelosi, 79, replied, “I would never even say that it was a hatchet” before praising the freshman New York lawmaker.
