The way I see it, Shepherd wasn't really banned for "misgendering" Yaniv. She was banned because she had become an outspoken darling of the alt-right and her Twitter reach was 80k and growing to include some noteworthy friends. They were looking for a reason to ban her and the Yaniv tweet provided them one.
And then when it turned out that Yaniv was such a disgusting vile reprobate pedophile, the optics for Twitter were horrible and only helping the cause of free speech that Shepherd fights for.
