Sen. Bernie Sanders proudly announced this year that his presidential campaign would be the first in history to have a unionized workforce. Well, he just became the first candidate in history to face a labor revolt from his unionized workers.
According to The Washington Post, the Sanders campaign workers union, United Food & Commercial Workers Local 400, complained that organizers are making poverty wages and that many field staffers are barely managing to survive financially. Because field organizers are working 60 hours a week, according to the union, their annual salary of $36,000 works out to $13 an hour well below the $15-an-hour federal minimum wage Sanders has called for.
It gets worse. When the Sanders campaign offered to raise salaries to that level, the union rejected the offer. Why? Because, the Post reports, the raise would have elevated field staff to a pay level responsible for paying more of their own health-care costs.

Irony.
Looks like Bernie’s ‘socialized’ workers are taking him to the cleaners.
Welcome to some real socialism, Bernie.
Yeah, slogans are all fine and well until it’s time to “walk the walk”.
Wrong tack. Its socialism we must fear, not Bernie Sanders. He wont be able to put in full socialism even should he be allowed to be a nominee, and this twisting story about his workers is because the oligarchy that hates Trump hates Bernie just as much. He is also very much not a part of the powers that want to enslave us. We may not agree with his politics but he at least is not part of the corrupt cabal controlling the media, the government agencies, and thus us.
I still have not heard a reason why a run of the mill campaign worker fits into one of the few categories of workers who are exempt from overtime. If they work 60 hours per week they should be getting 70 hours of pay.
Agreed. Even if Trump wins a second term (which I think likely) this Democrat campaign is going to further cement and normalize Socialist ideas in the minds of the electorate.
