Pretty much standard fare from the progressive side of the house. First the policy, then the prediction, then the finger-pointing when it doesn't work out. It's always somebody else's fault.

Does anyone rational really think there's a steady stream of Chicago criminals cycling between Indiana and the hood with legally purchased guns? It isn't even a good story.

By most reports, 1/5th or 20% of the guns used in Chicago crimes come from Indiana. Another 9% come from Mississippi and Wisconsin. That's 29% of the guns used in crimes in Chicago

The FBI reports in 2017 that roughly 60% of all guns used in crimes in Illinois come from out of state. That still leaves 40% of the guns come from within the state.

But none of this explains why the crime rate is so high. Legal guns owners don't go out and commit gun crimes at the rate that Chicago experiences. IOW, just owning a guns does not mean that you are going to grab it and run out the door to commit a crime.

Why do so many people commit crimes and injure and kill people with guns in Chicago?

The answer to that question is black-on-black, gang-related criminals.

That last fact is what Mayor Lightfoot needs to deal with, not where guns used in crimes come from.

Obviously the answer is to close the border with Indiana.
Lightfeet calls for border wall!
