Swing and a miss. It’s simple supply and demand.

Cities with strict gun laws supply more unarmed victims. This may attract more criminals to the area, but that wouldn’t happen if the citizenry were armed.

Clearest illustration: Chicago vs Philly. Similar demographics + much different gun laws = much different outcomes.
