By the time Hillary Clinton took the stage in Atlanta on Friday to address a venerated civil rights group, many in the room had invoked the incendiary tweets by the man who defeated her that roiled politics in Georgia and the rest of the nation.
And Clinton held little back at the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, labeling President Donald Trump’s assertion that four liberal congresswoman of color should “go back” to their home countries as racist before presenting the activists in the hotel ballroom with a challenge.
“We are better than this, but we better start proving it, not just saying it,” the 2016 Democratic presidential nominee said. “It can’t just be a battle fought on Twitter. It has to be fought and won at the ballot box — which is the only place that matters.”
Her remarks helped crystallize the sense of outrage among Georgia Democrats over Trump’s approach — and also the challenge that they face to defeat him. No Democratic presidential candidate has won Georgia since her husband carried the state in 1992.
And state Rep. Erica Thomas posted a tearful video on Facebook on Friday saying she was accosted at a Publix by a man who called her “ignorant” and “lazy” for having too many items in the express lane.
“It hurt me so badly,” she said, wiping away tears. “I can’t even explain why he had so much hate in his heart.”

When we read headlines on FR, we always have to refer to the cited source in order to provide the correct context. Thus, when I read that something Trump did “roiled” Georgia politics, I know it was, in actuality, a rousing success if the source was the Atlantic Journal-Constitution.
BTW: Thank you for not altering the citation name to something silly. When I see altered citations I always wonder if the cited article comes from some weirdly name web site. For this site it is popular to alter the name to include the word constipation. Makes Freepers sound like we are all in Junior High.
False outrage for Hillary is getting old. Most people knew what the President meant. Outrage is getting kind of old.
How do we know that these events even happened. So mush false information is put out and very is little done to verify it.
I was reading the comments under her video. Everyone seemed to miss the point that she was in the 10-items-or-less line with 15 (quite possibly more) things. I don’t know if I believe her account of the ‘white man’ berating her, calling her ignorant and telling her to go back where she came from. If true, he was rude, no doubt.
I think they are going to try to pin on President Trump every bad, unpleasant, less than wonderful experience that ‘people of color’ have.
The problem with that is that ‘people of non color’ are still the majority in this country in spite of what the media and news would have you believe. And, in my opinion, ‘people of non color’ are getting tired of taking the blame for some or all of the problems of ‘people of color’.
All people have color.
No human is colorless!
