New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has been left stranded in Australia after her air force jet broke down.
Stuff.co.nz reported Ms Ardern and her former TV fisherman husband Clarke Gayford will fly home on a commercial jet on Friday evening.
....
The New Zealand Defence Force said that the dignitaries' aircraft had suffered a 'failure of its air data computer'.
A replacement part will be shipped to Australia on Saturday, a statement said, but Ms Ardern was expected to return home on a commercial flight tonight.
During her time in Melbourne, Ms Ardern confronted Mr Morrison about the Australian government's policy of deporting Kiwi criminals back to NZ.
New Zealanders who moved to Australia as toddlers, only to grow up and commit crimes, have been regularly dumped back over the Tasman Sea.
Australia has deported 4000 people, including 1500 New Zealanders, since new laws were introduced in 2014.
Ms Ardern said the policy isn't 'fair dinkum' and said she will not be letting the issue go.

For those who are interested in such things, the jet in question is a Boeing 757-200 - the RNZAF maintains two of them for multi-role purposes including VIP transport - those two planes represent 4% of the entire RNZAF - they only have about fifty aircraft.
Please note, I have nothing respect for the personnel of the RNZAF or the New Zealand Defence Force. They are consummate professionals who have been starved of what they need to do their job.
If they want to criticise our government's policies, they'd do well to pull their own weight.
Youre the head of state. Im sure your air force has more than 1 passenger plane. Have them pick you up.
She’s the Head of Government, not the Head of State. And they do have two aircraft for this role - but they’ve been having some problems recently... the Deputy PM was stranded in Vanuatu last month and I wonder if their other 757 is even in service right now.
What? No toilet paper?

So dont commit crimes. Its not all that difficult.
L
Isn’t deporting criminals racist?
LOL! "They're our people, but we don't want them back"
If she asked nicely the Australian government would probably fly her home on one of the RAAF VIP transports - but the optics of that would be even more embarrassing.
“...aircraft had suffered a ‘failure of its air data computer’.”
Funny, many of us can actually fly aircraft that do not have computers. Even fighter jets.
The head of government/state dichotomy is irrelevant to my post. Even Bush Jr had the nerve to fly in the backseat of a navy fighter to give his (bull$h!t) mission accomplished speech (his mission was to get bin laden not his daddys ghosts)
Ps. Is she the haughty Byotch that is disarming the good people New Zealand?
New Zealand and Australia - two places I have no interest in visiting.
And the only reason I dwell on the difference between the Head of Government and Head of State is because I don't like politicians like her acting like they are more important than they are - our systems here make that distinction important. One example of this is her decision to change New Zealand gun laws - she made announcements of policy in those cases she had no right to make, until she'd put the matter before Parliament - and that's part of the reason they have the mess they have now. She acted like a dictator contrary to the conventions of New Zealand's constitution.
I have great respect for the Governor-General of New Zealand (the de facto Head of State, and the Queen of New Zealand (the de jure Head of State, both of whom have always done their duty by that nation.
Ms Ardern... I don't respect her in the same way.
Unfortunately, she's very popular with the left in Australia, who seem to wish she was our Prime Minister, too.

This being said wouldn’t it be nice to do this here!
According to Wikipedia, she’s married (to a guy), and just gave birth a month ago.
I find that odd, as most parents actually give a shit as to what kind of world they’re going to leave their kids (having kids often changes people’s thinking, particularly when they’re leftists), but I guess she’s too busy being PM to worry about about it.
I dont think I have ever seen fair dinkum used in a news article before? Also I thought it was Aussie slang, not Kiwis?
Interesting you note the “Mission Accomplished” speech by Bush the Younger. I’ve watched a couple of FrontLine documentaries on the Second Iraq War in the past few days - interesting that the Bushies had no plan for running Iraq after the war except to fire anyone who had been connected in any way to the Baath party. As a consequence, there were no civil servants, police or other authority of any kind left in large swaths of the country and the Bushies had no one to replace them. So when Bremer arrives as the chief US person there, he is amazed to see buildings in Baghdad burning out of control for days at a time - the firefighting crews had all been fired. How on earth did Mr. Mission Accomplished expect that a relatively modern country such as Iraq would operate with no government, no civil authority and a lot of angry people who have lost their jobs? The more I see of Bush Jr. the more I think he was a total disaster of a president.
I always wanted to go to Australia , the land and sea there looks beautiful. Then I found that everything ...every snake is poisonous to some degree...a box jelly will kill you in two minutes salties and great whites will eat you and even platypuses (platypi??) are venomous. Go figger.
Yes and yes.
