President Trump on Thursday ripped the embattled governor of Puerto Rico, joining a growing chorus of critics that includes entertainer Ricky Martin and Boston Red Sox manager Alex Cora.
The commander-in-chief also took a shot at San Juan Mayor Carmen Yulin Cruz, whom he has feuded with since Hurricane Maria devastated the US commonwealth in September 2017.
A lot of bad things are happening in Puerto Rico. The Governor is under siege, the Mayor of San Juan is a despicable and incompetent person who I wouldnt trust under any circumstance, and the United States Congress foolishly gave 92 Billion Dollars for hurricane relief, much of which was squandered away or wasted, never to be seen again, the president wrote on Twitter.
This is more than twice the amount given to Texas & Florida combined. I know the people of Puerto Rico well, and they are great. But much of their leadership is corrupt, & robbing the U.S. Government blind!

Trump was right.

Yep, right again.
Good to see Trump hitting the issues and playing offense for a change.
This man fights. I love it.
I want to see that mayor bitch in cuffs.
Yeah, Trump was right, but his crowd chanted “SEND HER BACK, SEND HER BACK!”
Impeach!
There are a lot of protests going on in San Juan.
Giving money to puerto rico is no different that throwing money away to graft and corruption in Haiti
Time to make PR it’s own country and denaturalize all Puerto Ricans who have U.S. citizenship.
BINGO!
Its either statehood or cut them loose. I am all for the latter.
Neither is going to happen.
Making them a state is a no go because if it adds Republican seats, the Democrats will vote against it and vice versa.
Cutting them loose is a no go because there is no mechanism in place to revoke the citizenship of 3.5 million people. Would the Puerto Ricans living on the mainland be forced to return to the island? Will their citizenship be revoked as well? What about the Puerto Ricans who do not want to be part of an independent nation, will they be allowed to go to the mainland.
It’s a nice line to say, but it ain’t happening. At least in my opinion.
Totally impractical. Unless there is a Republican territory out there somewhere, and they can be paired like Alaska and Hawaii were. Which I see nowhere.
Agreed. Have a great weekend.
