Actually, whether it passes or fails, it is a win for Trump. If it passes, then the Senate will b*tch-slap the House for passing Impeachment with no substance, and the Dems will probably not be able to bring it up again. If it fails, then the issue will have to drop off the table for the Dems. Heads I win, tails you lose. Until they brought it up, it was a threat that they could run to the press with. Once it is brought up, it ceases to be an issue. Green is screwin the pooch on this one because it takes it off the table for bringing up during the actual presidential campaign. It will be done and gone with no ability to make political hay from it.
