It would hold up. The Constitution does not provide for any appeals process when it comes to impeachment. The House holds all the power here. The House can impeach for any old reason. Or for no reason at all.

And that’s exactly what the Founders intended. The House has the power to impeach. The Senate has the power to convict. No court can interfere in this process.

SCOTUS has review powers and even conservative and liberal analysts, attorneys, judges, etc, have weighed in and said SCOTUS could get involved.

The Founders did not intend impeachment and removal to be at the whims of whomever controlled Congress.

That would be dictatorial.

Could Trump be a dictator then too and send troops into D.C.?

Do we need that?

No.

So we cannot have impeachment and removal due to Orange Man Bad. It has to be logical, provable, imperical, sound and cogent reasons - or we go to CW2.
