Collins Proposes Red Light Act to Withhold Federal Highway Dollars (Illegal Aliens)
WBEN ^ | July 16, 2019 | Tom Puckett

Congressman Chris Collins is taking a swing at Governor Cuomo's recently-signed Green Light NY bill with one that would withhold federal highway money from states that give drivers licenses to illegal immigrants.

“Once again, Governor Cuomo has put his socialist agenda ahead of the safety of American citizens,” said Congressman Collins. “Governor Cuomo should be enforcing laws that protect Americans instead of supporting those who break our laws. Citizens should feel safe behind the wheel, but now in New York there will be a strong likelihood that illegals could be driving uninsured and unregistered vehicles wreaking havoc on our roads.”

"Cuomo has threatened the lives of New Yorkers who are legal U.S. citizens with this legislation,” added Collins. "If he wants to help illegal immigrants avoid the law while threatening highway safety, he can pay for it.”

If enacted, Collins' Red Light bill would withhold funds beginning in fiscal year 2020 and each fiscal year thereafter. Any funds withheld from non-compliant states will be appropriated to states that do not allow illegal immigrants to have a drivers license or identification cards.

Not without precedent - remember back when the Fed’s forced the national 55 MPH limit on the States by threatening to withhold highway funds if they didn’t?

I got one of those ‘tickets’. Fifty miles west of Phoenix on I-10 in the middle of nowhere.

Spotter plane and five or so LEO vehicles and pulling people over faster than they could write the tickets.

To have this insight, Conf. Collins could have survived Miami during the last 60 years. Not unusual to see a traffic accident happen, where everyone involved would flee the scene on foot.

Sure do, I also remember the gas crisis, luckily I was a college student on a 10 speed.

By the time I was out of school and need wheels I ran beaters which performed quite nicely at 55mph. So, whether the limit was 70 or 60... I was doing 55 by proxy.

"A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds." They did it because they could - had nothing to do with right & wrong.

This generation has lost its moral compass - if it's legal, it must be okay. If it's illegal, it must be wrong.

Thank G-d for faith-based civil disobedience.

Red Light Act? Does that mean she is in favor of houses that have red lights hanging over their front doors? (Sara)

Legal in most places in Nevada (Not Washoe or Clark counties, nor in Carson City).

Yeah. I also remember how the states of Montana and Wyoming enforced it— $5 fine and no point on the license.

Perfectly legal and obvious way for DC to control states which survive off of money-from-thin-air.
