The nation’s biggest progressive conference is rife with racial politics: multiple panels on race, an hourlong “quiet space/meditation for people of color,” even a table run by a group that solicits “reparations” from white men, which it promises to pay out directly. State Rep. Summer Lee... complains ... that the Democratic tent “seems to get smaller when loud, proud, black progressive women show up...”
Sen. Elizabeth Warren is the darling of Netroots Nation...
“I’m personally looking at Liz Warren because she has a plan,” says Génesis Cubillas, an organizer for Planned Parenthood... Actually, Ms. Warren’s campaign site boasts at least 20 plans, for everything from housing to climate to child care.
Ms. Warren’s sex also gives her an identity-politics edge, at least over Bernie Sanders, who’s a no-show at the conference. Ms. Cubillas says she supported Mr. Sanders four years ago but rejects him now because he’s an “old white man.” Eva Piatek, who works in environmental advocacy... echoes the sentiment. “I want a woman president... “I’m a former Bernie supporter... but identity politics is a thing...”
“Who’s the next to drop out?” asks a hand-scrawled message... Joe Biden has 32 tallies by his name and Mr. Sanders 20. The only two with none are Ms. Warren and Kamala Harris...
Kihani Brea, a political consultant, says she “wanted to like Kamala Harris” because of her race—both African- and Asian-American—but is leery because of her work as San Francisco district attorney: “She was a very aggressive prosecutor...”
Many conference-goers see economics as more important than identity; in their view, capitalism oppresses minorities and socialism is the key to racial justice. They strongly prefer Mr. Sanders to Mr. Biden, whom Warren supporter Ember Ollom describes as someone “dressing up as a liberal for Halloween in a Dollar Tree costume...”

Netroots Nation is an amalgamation of various liberal radical factions.
It originated as an event brought to us by the Daily Kos folks. Originally it was called Yearly Kos, then became Netroots.
From what I gather, they feel that they have great wisdom in the workd of Netroots , people on the net who crank out blogs full of liberal pablum as the answers to society’s problems.

I don’t care about this guy but before you post the next Indian meme, go to her website and check out her policy positions. Lots of Trump-like ideas there, lots of liberal nonsense, but she’s talking about the right stuff, not crazy climate nonsense or GND wet dreams.
Fortunately she’s not very charismatic and is making anyone very excited. But that could change. The smart people in the Dem party know they have to run a centrist candidate or they will automatically re-elect Trump, and she’s probably the best option. Not creepy, not a socialist, and she’s got the age (younger than Trump) and gender boxes checked.
