We will see more of these in the coming months — people throwing their names against the wall to see whether they can get any traction. With Trump’s +90% approval among Republicans, most of these trial balloons will drop like lead balloons.

... he will mount a potential run against Trump as a way of pushing a national debate about America’s mounting debt, deficit and government spending. Lord knows we need to have that discussion. But having that conversation with himself isn't going to generate it.
