The Irish potato famine.
The Brits were exporting food then while 1.5 million Irish starved to death. Another 1.5 million Irish migrated to avoid starving. The population count has yet to recover.

A horrific and sad period of history. The “Brits” did not cause the potato disease, though, that resulted in famine. Neither were many “Brits” any better off than the starving Irish.

If my memory of history is correct, America welcomed the Irish.

Bolshevism is an ugly thing. Envy is the worst of the Deadly Sins. It serves only Satan.

I was at an Anglican service once, where the pastor was exhorting the congregation to “Remember the Martyrs!” The irony was, that this was at a service being held in a Catholic Church facility being loaned to the Anglicans because they were thrown out of their own church for not embracing homosexuality.

The sour bitterness of their own tone seemed lost to them, as they were nursing wounds of the past.
