President Trump unloaded on former House Speaker Paul Ryan for the second time in three days Saturday, mocking him as a “Lame Duck” and chiding his leadership style as “ineffective” and “stupid.”

In a series of tweets, Trump praised House Minority Leader Keven McCarthy, R-Calif., calling him smarter and tougher than Ryan, who retired in January.

He also characterized Ryan’s fundraising numbers in his final year in office as “abysmal” and said people like him “almost killed the Republican Party.” […]

His comments come days after excerpts from an upcoming book the former House Speaker as saying that Trump “didn’t know anything about government” and that Ryan wanted to “scold him all the time.” …

From Trump’s Twitter posts:

“House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy is a far superior leader than was Lame Duck Speaker Paul Ryan. Tougher, smarter and a far better fundraiser, Kevin is already closing in on 44 Million Dollars. Paul’s final year numbers were, according to Breitbart, “abysmal.” People like.....

“....Paul Ryan almost killed the Republican Party. Weak, ineffective & stupid are not exactly the qualities that Republicans, or the CITIZENS of our Country, were looking for. Right now our spirit is at an all time high, far better than the Radical Left Dems. You’ll see next year!”

Trump is a gentleman. He could have said a lot worse.

Paul Ryan said Trump “didn’t know anything about government”.

Ryan the Asswipe says that like it is a bad thing. I say that its one of President Trump's finest qualifications. I'm sure Ronald Reagan would agree.

So Paul Ryan is admitting he prevented controlling the border at a time when Republicans controlled Congress.

Paul Ryan suffers from ‘small mans’ syndrome.
He really was a ‘swamp creature’ as opposed to someone would work for his voters.

Effective for the opposition, which is what Ryan was.

Bush League Republicans MUST become extinct before the Republic does.

Here, Ryan admits in a back-handed way that by “government”, he means “tyranny”.

I think “COMPROMISED” probably describes him better as probably most of our high level officials are.

No; it’s ideological. And it goes back decades.
The New Deal, Dean Acheson wrote approvingly in a book called A Democrat Looks At His Party, “conceived of the federal government as the whole people organized to do what had to be done.” A year later, Mr. (Arthur) Larson wrote A Republican Looks At His Party, and made much the same claim in his book for modern Republicans. The “underlying philosophy” of the New Republicanism, said Mr. Larson, is that “if a job has to be done to meet the needs of the people, and no one else can do it, then it is the proper function of the federal government.”

Here we have, by prominent spokesmen of both political parties, an unqualified repudiation of the principle of limited government. There is no reference by either of them to the Constitution, or any attempt to define the legitimate functions of government. The government can do whatever needs to be done; note, too, the implicit but necessary assumption that it is the government itself that determines what needs to be done. We must not, I think, underrate the importance of these statements. They reflect the view of a majority of the leaders of one of our parties, and of a strong minority among the leaders of the other, and they propound the first principle of totalitarianism: that the State is competent to do all things and is limited in what it actually does only by the will of those who control the State. …

The Conscience of a Conservative (1960), Chapter 2, page 15
That encapsulates the true description of what people like Paul Ryan and the rest of the GOP establishment are.

Ryan must find it increasingly hard to live with what he has done.
