I actually see how it sounded unflattering but I didn't mean it to be. I was kidding about how we value our FR so highly, not criticizing her. I have always liked her work.
As to my qualities as a contributor here, you have every right to put me down. I am doing my very best to add to the value of this site. I have my drawbacks (intense hatred of the political opponents, a Gemini bluntness in name calling, touchiness over the (really infrequent) attacks on me due to my low self esteem, and often carelessness about details of facts. Plus silliness to the nth degree in my humor.
As hard as I try to be the best here I know I "stand on the shoulders of giants" ---the many who came long before me when I was merely a lurker.
I am a professional writer (now retired). I had more than 250 articles published, was an SF book review columnist for two different newsstand magazines, wrote for local newspapers, was editor of a series of books about writers at a NY publisher (Ungar, now Continuum), and wrote three books published in hardcover and trade paperback by a NY publisher. I learned in writing you can't please everybody.
I was happy to get about 99% good reviews but as the late Isaac Asimov said "I toss and turn at night thinking about those bad ones."
