This really should be a PROPERTY RIGHTS issue as John Ellis said.
If the flag (gay pride or American) is OWNED by someone, you do not have the right to grab it and burn it.
What the author objects to is the topping on of “Hate crimes” against the flag burner.
And as most FReepers on this thread pointed out, why is burning an American Flag not a hate crime ( against the country )?

Yes. You are absolutely right on.
But I still say that Ellis’ motivation for this op-ed is to bow to the gay mafia. I doubt he would have taken the time to write this if the flag had been the Stars and Stripes.
