Texas Republican Sen. Ted Cruz had a simple message for the Trump administration during Wednesday's hearing on foreign arms sales: "Follow the damn law."
Lawmakers on both sides of the aisle have been critical of the administration's decision to declare an emergency earlier this year in order to expedite billions of dollars in arms sales to various countries -- including Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates -- but Cruz's particularly blunt warning about efforts to bypass Congress stands out due to his reputation as a polarizing figure on Capitol Hill.
Sen. Chris Coons, a Democrat from Delaware, noted that Cruz's comments marked a "rare moment of bipartisanship on this committee."
"I want to compliment you, Assistant Secretary Cooper, on managing to achieve a rare moment of bipartisanship on this committee. I will tell you it is not often that my colleague from Texas and I agree completely on a matter," he said.

Both of those countries hate Iran so sell them all the guns and bombs they want.
Trump won 1441 delegates to 551 for Cruz. I would hardly consider that "almost beating Trump".
As a formerly strong supporter of Senator Cruz, I’m very disappointed in him.
Because the Saudis are fighting Iranians.
I don’t understand why Cruz is so opposed to us arming the Saudis and the UAE so they can prevent Yemen from becoming Iran’s 32nd province. I’ve concluded the guy’s politically autistic. From showing up with soccer balls for illegal alien minors detained at the border, blaming Trump for antiFa violence against Trump supporters in Chicago to going after Trump for preventing Yemen from becoming Iran’s second Arab province, there’s something off-kilter about him. I like many of the guy’s stated positions, but he’s clearly not completely in sync with the base in very fundamental ways.
They were the last two...as it is, it all ended well.
Yo, Ted, I don't see the Senate trying to put a halt to US cash and aid going to Israel, Pakistan, and India. According to the law, they shouldn't receive any aid and the sale of US arms to them is illegal since they won't sign the NPT.
You first, Cruz. You get the Senate to "follow the damn law" then you can be a smart ass about Trump.
If Coons is complimenting Cruz, then it is highly likely that Cruz screwed up.
But as for those who want to get rid of Cruz, they are nuts. He votes better than 90% of Republican senators.
>> Ted, stop being such a friggin church lady.
Was thinking attention whore.

...and he wonders why A dimwit like Beto gave him a run for his money,
Saudi is not our friends they financed 9/11!
Cruz is such a Canadian pussy.
They are? I am obviously ill informed because I didn’t even know the Saudis had any sort of military.
Yeah and is it wise to arm our enemies the Saudis, especially when the Wahabis finally over throw them and take all that equipment.
agreed
“Are you saying that ISIS and Al Qaeda are not making a play for Yemen?”
ISIS and AQ are creations of the Gulf monarchies, and bitterly opposed to the Shias.
Saudi Arabia invaded Yemen to install a puppet government.
These are facts.
The original head of ISIS controlled a smuggling route from Pakistan’s border through Iran to Iraq’s border.
