Different rules this time. Superdelegates don’t vote on the first ballot this time (or rather, they only vote on the first ballot if one candidate has a majority of pledged delegates). The result is that they only matter if no candidate has a majority of delegates.

Thanks. Is that for all Dem state primaries or Cal. only? Maybe that is a reform triggered by what happened in Cal 2016. It's possible that none of them will get a majority on the first ballot at the national convention.

A nightmare outcome would me Biden picks Kamala for VP, wins because voters thinks he is "centrist," steps down, and Kamala steps up.
