The court absolutely does have this authority if it was contended that the change of attorneys would delay the case. I’m not saying the judge is t a sack, just not because of this

No, the judge does not have this authority.

The litigants have the right to choose their attorneys.

But the change of counsel in this matter would not delay the case, and may even expedite it. If a party believes they are not being well-served by their current counsel, they have a right to change counsel. New counsel files an appearance and old counsel withdraws; it happens quite often.
