Admittedly tech is worse than other areas about this but a lot of people have a complacent attitude about it. ie oh its just Tech. NO ITS NOT!
Ive seen it. For every one of them that gets employed (or at least a large percentage), an American misses out. If that American is competitive, sure theyll catch on somewhere but at a lower level for less pay and at a less prestigious company that does not look as good on their resume as they otherwise would have. The less qualified American they displace in turn gets pushed down the ladder further etc and ends up having to take a Starbucks barista type job instead of at least getting their foot on the first rung of the ladder in the corporate world.
Those Americans then put off getting married and starting families if at all and put off buying houses. Oh, and when the companies do look to promote, where are they going to look? Hint: its not from the ranks of the displaced Americans. This is bad in the present, but really AWFUL for the future of the country. Its millennials who are getting screwed over the hardest. Youd think they would wake up. Fear of being called racist is causing many of them to passively sit back and watch as they get screwed over.
The GOP Free Traitors don’t give damn. Most Freepers are to old or too libertarian to care about this.
I know it isn’t just tech.
Back when dinosaurs roamed the earth, a kid would get his first corporate job out of college & would start to pay their student loans.
Now, we give those openings to foreign nationals across the board.
Don’t even start me about the older workers who have been permanently displaced by foreign nationals.
Asians (Indian and Orientals) are filling financial sector jobs in the NYC metro area; they are our white-collar replacements. The county north of me in NJ (across from mid-town) recently added Korean to their county business (sample ballots, etc.).
Sitting in Boston & watching the Wayfair protests, I’d write-off the Millennial Tech Workers as a total loss.
