light industrial where hair must be in hair nets or cut short.

When I was young I had a job in a factory. I put my long hair in a pony tail and folded it up under my safety cap.

California must be a great place to live. While other states struggle with things like mental health issues, homelessness, budget shortfalls, illegal aliens, environmental problems, etc etc... California apparently has knocked down their to-do list so well the next most important issue for them to address is hairstyle acceptance. Very impressive California. {slow clap} Now, I have to wonder. If someone came to work with red white and blue hair with MAGA shaved into the sides... Would they be so accepting and accommodating?

Does this mean that folks that don’t wash their hair are OK to be hired in CA?

Kewl, yet another reason not to go there

“... (The generally accepted age of dreadlock maturity is 2 years.) I don’t suggest washing any more frequently because it’s extremely important that your dreadlocks get the opportunity to dry THOROUGHLY between washings. Dreadlocks that are not allowed to dry properly (you wash too much, put them up in a ponytail or scarf, etc, while still wet, or go to bed with wet locks) have a risk of developing dread rot; i.e. mildew. Mold in dreadlocks can be killed if you are persistent, but the only way to REMOVE mold (which is dead if you’ve taken steps to kill it) is to comb out your dreadlocks. Obviously you want to avoid this at all costs, so just make sure you don’t wash too often, and let them dry thoroughly before putting them up or sleeping on them.”

Doesn’t it sound Nummy to have a waiter/ waitress with dreadlocks handling your food? They can’t help it that their “natural” hairstyle only gets washed once a month...or so.

Don’t mind the stench and...Bon Appetit!

The phrase “bad hair day” can no longer legally be used in California.

I don’t think the new law is about freaky girls with lavender hair, it’s about banning the firing of people that don’t wash!

It is really for black people who wear dreadlocks or afros. At least when saw info on it and they had the above referenced yapping about being disenfranchised because of their do’s.
Poor brown and black people always hassled woe is me.

This is textbook liberalism that always create unintended consequences and hurt the very people it's supposed to help.

The consequences of Liberalism are never UNintentional.

A lot of blacks with these hairstyles simply won't be hired now, especially in jobs such as the fast-food industry or light industrial where hair must be in hair nets or cut short.

I think that the Purpose of the new law is to require employers to hire them, regardless of how bizarre, filthy or unsafe their hair is. It is also possible that employers will not be permitted to require hair nets, covers or safety helmets.

This will not end well.

Don’t you get it. The law was made for black people because everyone is against them and their hair because everyone is racist.
They will wear their hair however they want it.

Hair nets and safety hats are for white people. Black people have special hair so they need special provisions and laws to protect their hair.
