BUTTIGIEG REBUKES MAN AT CAMPAIGN EVENT FOR INSISTING HE TELL BLACK PEOPLE TO 'STOP COMMITTING CRIME AND DOING DRUGS'
Buttigieg, who has been mayor of South Bend since 2012, took questions from attendees Thursday at the Carroll County Democratic Party barbeque. One man, who identified himself as Dave Begley, proposed a new tactic to supposedly help the 2020 hopeful tackle the tensions between "police and the black community" in his hometown.
"Mayor Pete, there has been some controversy in South Bend between the police and the black community, and I have a solution for you, and I'd like you to make a comment on my proposal," Bagley said. "Just tell the black people of South Bend to stop committing crime and doing drugs."
The question immediately drew resounding boos from the crowd.
"Sir, racism is not going to help us get out of this," Buttigieg responded, before the man insisted that his question "has nothing to do with race."
Buttigieg went on to explain the ongoing "systemic racism" that exists in America. "The fact that a black person is four times as likely as a white person to be incarcerated for the exact same crime is evidence of systemic racism," the mayor said, adding that "racism makes it harder for good police officers to do their jobs."
"It is a smear on law enforcement," he said.
Begley expressed resentment of Buttigieg's response following the incident and defended his question as not racist, according to Politico. He also reportedly revealed to journalists that he is a writer for the conservative Power Line Blog and attended the event so he could report on it.

Powerline does good work. I think it was the Duke Lacrosse scandal, if my memory aerves, that they dug in pretty deeply.
Factors such as unequal base rates between blacks and whites and dissimilar population characteristics all contribute to making the statistics “phoney” and of course are carefully omitted by those tossing the figures around to make their point.....
Correct. Either prove to me there is no basis, i.e. that the two groups commit crimes with the same frequency, or it’s a specious argument. If I were to say that a person is more likely to sustain a serious bit from a pit bull than from a beagle, that’s not caninism...
I just went to Powerline to give them a heads up. Couldn’t find any contact info. Oh well.
Do I detect the invisible hand of a Kamala Harris dirty tricks campaign? First BLM was after him, now this?
Yeah. Sad.
3 Jul: News12 NJ: Chicago police release new video of Jussie Smollett
The video appears to show Smollett walking to an elevator and throwing something into a trash can before leaving the building. What appears to be a white rope could be seen around his neck.
Police say that this video is from just prior to when Smollett alleges the attack occurred...

Dave Begley of the Powerline Blog is a white guy. But still.
Sounds like a triggering racist meme...
Or are we forbidden to say or even know that irrefutable truth?
” it was staged.”
Correct
Racism is taught by Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton, to name a few. Those two clowns have made a nice living out of perpetuating racism. Fortunately, many Blacks have ignored them and have worked they way into respectable, good-paying positions with the support of Whites and other races.
The Dem power elites already sicced their BLM minions on him so he’s already done before this. For some reason he decided to finish himself off completely to them with this bit of truth that no pol would ever say, especially a dem. My question is what’s his game now?
Well, it certainly couldn’t hurt. Who does Mayor Pete think is shooting up the black neighborhoods in Chicago? Stats show that 82% of all shooting victims in Chicago are black, and the overwhelming majority of identified assailants are black. The good news for Mayor Pete, I guess, is that about 82% of assailants remain unidentified, so that means fewer blacks going to prison. Now that’s progress.
His “Sista Souljah” moment.
“The fact that a black person is four times as likely as a white person to be incarcerated for the exact same crime is evidence of systemic racism,” the mayor said,

Pete,
It may be hard to admit but they’re incarcerated more because they keep doing something wrong. Kind of like men who have sex with men are 27 times more at risk of HIV compared with the general population.
“Just tell the black people of South Bend to stop committing crime and doing drugs.”
There’s an intro to that honest discussion we keep hearing about! Unfortunately, saying that won’t do a damned thing. It won’t help impulse control, time preference, or IQ. The only thing that has ever “helped” has been the brutal enforcement of the law. We don’t have the stomach for that anymore, and it’s highly questionable as to whether it was ever worth the effort. But hey, we can always extend the suburbs down the interstate a few more miles. Property values will be good there. My 401K isn’t harmed. That’s all that matters.
“Sounds like it was staged.”
Probably so. He’s trying to be like Bill Clinton in 1992 with his Sister Soldier Moment, when Clinton distanced himself from black extremism.
One BIG problem for Butterfingers that Clinton didn’t have - Butterfingers still needs black votes in the primaries. By the time Clinton had his Sister Soldier Moment, Clinton pretty much had the nomination wrapped up, with just a handful of states remaining, all with limited black populations.
I’m not sure what Butterfingers is thinking, but he’ll soon learn that there’s no room for this Sister Soldier garbage in the Democrat Primary system - it only works for the general election.
Dave Begley should run for mayor of South Bend.
