Haw! You hate it when Jesus crashes funerals
And it would not even have to be limited to shoes. It could go into sportswear.
In today’s world, if Rick Monday saved a Flag from being burned like he did in 1976 he would be kicked out of Professional Baseball and his life would be destroyed.
Sex sin has always been difficult to police, and even Old Testament law gave a nod to this reality. Nobody was to be put to death except on two or three witnesses, and they had to be credible or they were liable to the penalty themselves. This meant that only the solidly ascertained, notorious cases met a civil penalty. That purged burgeoning “pride” movements as we know them today. But it allowed much room for moral and spiritual appeals to the rest who were affected.
I love to see good witnesses to the “gay” crowd but let’s not fool ourselves — it is a LOT of work. The modern garden variety of Christian is too weak on his own to do much.

I can remember when conservatives were outraged at the very idea of anyone *wearing* the American flag as an item of clothing.
Abbie Hoffman’s American flag shirt was blasphemous.
Now millions of little Abbie Hoffman wannabes are beating up middle aged suburbanites for wearing or waving American flags.
This!!!
Perfectly said wonderful C.P.!
But, see, that’s not my point at all.
I do not want to police gays or anyone.
I don’t want to control anybody. I don’t want to force anyone to my own moral code, except that which has always been considered evil—murder, assault, robbery, burglary, and other bodily crimes.
I just don’t want to celebrate gay sex. I don’t want ANY sex pushed to children. But face it, that’s what THEY want. The demand we celebrate with them and ensure our children do also. Why?
There’s a good explanation as to why... it’s because its very thrill is driven by a bullying spirit. That does not make it right; but it does help us understand why, in fact, God did want society to police it when it got to the “pride movement” level. Two fellows getting silly over sex bullying one another in private is one thing. The harm is limited and mostly comes back on the participants. Trying to pull the public into it (i.e. being willing to have witnesses) is another.
And we can look at some history as to how this became possible, beginning with the nominally normal sex education in schools. This got children to start to look to the school for guidance in such things rather than to the family (the classic “birds and bees” talks). The sex bullying addicts saw an opening to propagate the evil god that drove them, and wheeeee!
A return to family values is great here, but it has to happen in a godly context, which means that ignorance is not treasured. We need to be “wise as serpents” (i.e. understand under what circumstances and in what ways the evil gods will strike) and yet “harmless as doves” (wishing only good to our fellow man).
And we might have to go to a Russia-like plan in order to retain sanity. That is quite close to the bible plan, without the death penalties (which also were incurred by some witnessed ritual infractions, which no longer became applicable in the church age). No public “gayness.” But what happens in closets is not Russia’s government’s concern.
I mean, regain sanity.
We always have to police some things... that doesn’t mean like Stasi or witch hunters, but they have to be deemed crimes that are discouraged through various applicable penalties, whether mild or severe. Criminologists will tell you that the certitude of being caught matters more than the severity of the penalty.
And if something pushes us that way, it will be the politics that comes in the wake of the cake bakers and the florists, who want to stay innocent before God and are now facing these bullies who are pushing civil rights statutes way beyond any previously countenanced application they had. It is necessary that these cake bakers and florists suffer, but they will also be rewarded for their perseverance.
I’m a friendly hijacker, however. I put the plane back on the course it should have been taking, then I turn the controls back over :-)
