And to think, Texas and a ton of out of state money, almost elected this guy to the Senate.
There was a TON of out of state money coming in for Bobby O'Rourke. The string pullers were trying to create a white Obama. Most people in the state didn't know anything about O'Rourke, cause he was a rep from El Paso, which is isolated from most of the state. How isolated? It's closer to Los Angeles than it is to Beaumont.
His handlers did understand Texas culture, though. They linked him to Willie Nelson, Whataburger, and sold him as being a little bit of a rebel.
Just like Obama, he was cast for the part, and keep the issues out of the way. They knew Cruz was damaged after the Donald finished with him, and thought they could run Beto, and yeah, just like Obama, two years in the Senate and run for President. They figured if they could flip Texas, they had the presidency, and O'Rourke, as is obvious now, was not the brains of that senatorial run.
After he lost, they half-heartedly proceeded with the plan, but hedged their bets. He got more money than any other senatorial candidate in history. That's how much they bet on him.
