Tanks on trailers, sure. Tanks on the streets? Tank tracks will do a real number on asphalt in the summer.

There are rubber street pads for the treads. US Army in Germany used them, and lowered road speeds.

The weight is a false concern.

High speed fully loaded semis do more damage than a slow moving M1A1 with street gear.

Don’t sweat it, there are ways to deal with that:

Just put hard rubber grousers on the treads.
Doesn’t anybody know anything about moving heavy equipment on hard surface streets?

Not any more damage than a dump truck.

Just dont turn them sharp on the blacktop.

There used to be rubber and rubber clad tracks for tanks.
The army should make a few pairs for parades.
An M1 puts about 103 PSI on the ground.
An average passenger car is 205 PSI on the ground.
It's about metal tracks and how tanks steer.
once again, rubber tracks, just like rubber tires, but less ground pressure.
BTW the typical stiletto heel is over 3000 PSI.
