Actually, she’s second in line. Pence is first, but this only happens if the President AND the Vice President are incapacitated. Otherwise the VP, who would now be President, gets to choose the VP and Congress has to confirm. He can also choose to leave the office vacant until the next election.

Your correct. I was figuring the prez, the VP and then the speaker. But why the heck would the prez be first in line?

Back in 1973 when Nixon nominated Ford to replace Agnew as VP, there were some Democrats who saw this as an opportunity to undo the election of ‘72 and replace Nixon who was under the Watergate cloud with the Democrat Speaker of the House. Cooler heads in Congress nixed the idea and Ford was confirmed.

Do you think the current Democrats would do the same and deny the Presidency to Nancy?
