Surprisingly, even though our Sherman Tanks were outmatched and outgunned we still defeated the Germans.
This is also proof of a valuable point, sheer numbers can overwhelm an Adversary dependent on costly and limited numbers of advanced weaponry.
Our homegrown Manufacturing base defeated the Germans.
Our Adversaries understand this while we waste Billions on a limited supply of Weapons systems like the outrageously expensive and troubled F-35.
Remember, you go to War with the Military you have.
Part of it was sheer numbers. During WWII we produced close to 50K Sherman tanks.....The total amount of German Tiger II’s fielded was something short of 500!
Main reasons being American bombing raids on production facilities and shortages of raw materials.
It wasn’t so much the shear numbers, but the fact that the Shermans were lighter, faster, and easier to repair in the field.
The Germans had a limited capability when it came to tank recovery but they lacked the elaborate field shops to repair damaged and broken down tanks.
