Are you guys sure of that? This fact was true in the 1970s and 1980s, but those were different parents, from a different generation, who had not embraced the creed and catechism of modern liberalism.
I have some doubt about your assertions and I am not as sanguine as you are. Remember that these are the parents that feel it is not only ok but imperative to subject their children to TG readings in the public library. And take their kids to a "Pride" rally. This would have been unthinkable a generation ago. I think these parents have adopted the new religion of liberalism, and since it is a religion, I am afraid they may feel more obligated now, than 30 years ago, to submit to busing.
The Uber Lefties living in the exclusive Upper East Side of Manhattan revolted when the Department of Education wanted to ship in poor black and Hispanic kids into the rich kids neighborhood public schools.
As a mom in an middle to upper middle class suburb full of soccer moms, (probably a mix of conservative and liberal in our area) I really believe no matter what they say, that is where the “progressive” parents would draw the line in the sand on living out their “progressive” beliefs. Parents pay top dollar to buy houses in this suburb, and pay high property taxes. Getting their kids into good schools and universities is their highest expectation for their kids and why they make that sacrifice. All other goofy liberal agendas will fall by the wayside if their darling kids are threatened to be bussed to inner city areas or have those kids from poverty areas bussed in here.
No matter what they say, most liberal soccer moms are only saying and doing those things to be accepted as “cool” by their other goofy friends. If it involves ANY sacrifice, they will be out in a heartbeat. I’m sure someone somewhere will dream up an acceptable reason “too much carbon emissions etc” so that they can pretend it is not just normal parental self interest and concern for what is best for their kids. It will be fun to watch scrambling to make sure their kids don’t have to be bussed while trying to maintain the illusion that they still deep down believe in progressive ideas.
If Kamala Harris sticks to this dumb idea, it will be a gift that keeps on giving for Trump. If he words his responses correctly he might actually even get some of the progressive soccer moms on board with him permanently, not just for this election.
