Forget nanny laws. However - you kill or injure someone while driving distracted - we hang you.

I don’t answer my phone when it rings. The reason I don’t is for my own safety. I do not want to be distracted. The call can wait. Also I never answer calls from numbers I do not recognize.

Don’t tell me you look up when you are right in front of a safety bill board like this?

When my daughter was a lot younger and still lived with, She sometimes talked to me or I to her when we were on the way to some store for example and we missed the store because we were talking. It was kind of funny but we both said we must stop talking while driving.

Don’t you see those safety boards 200 or 300 yards before. so you don’t have to look up when you are suddenly underneath?

Hell, if it prevents just ONE death, wouldn’t it be worth it?

That sounds familiar … I think I heard Sarah Brady and "Pete" Shields using that line thirty years ago...

Why go ad hominem when you’re unprovoked

Do you do that to strangers in public

Somehow I doubt it

Lol

I’ll just call FBI every hour after I’ve pulled over to let them know where I am

The author’s views on drunk driving
must make an interesting read.

"Distracted driving" laws have the same flaw as "drunk driving" laws. They try to codify regulations about driving behavior that often have no correlation with the driver's capabilities at all.

If I'm stopped at a red light and someone drives into the back of my car at a speed of 40+ miles per hour, it makes no difference if the driver was drunk, texting, sleeping or just plain retarded.

"Preventive law enforcement" has no place in a free nation.

Another angle to this is that the entire auto industry -- including manufacturers, government regulators and safety advocates -- have effectively brought us to a point where distracted driving is implicitly encouraged. That's because vehicles have become so comfortable, safe, instrumented, and heavily automated that drivers can operate them very well without paying full attention to what they're doing.

Should have a device that kills cell phone op as soon as car is turned on. Solved.

I hope you are only kidding. But, I wouldn't be surprised if you aren't. If not, people like you who have a tyrannical need to tell other people what to do, on pain of death, are the problem. We're going to have a civil war soon, you watch. And all the tyrannical do-gooders won't fare very well.

I HOPE you are joking. If not, I suppose you agree that if it just prevents ONE death, all firearms in private hands in the United States should be confiscated and destroyed. Try that, and you will have MILLIONS of deaths on your hands.

I get so sick and tired of tyrannical nannies trying to tell us all what to do, on pain of death. Get over yourselves, or you will find a backlash that you can't handle.

A friend of mine bought a new pickup truck and was driving it home from the dealer. He was also setting the radio push-buttons to the stations he preferred when he ran into a PARKED car, totaling the pickup.

It was more mockery then a joke.

Remember when the Liberals always said that very thing, if it would save just ONE life wouldn’t be worth it?

Hehe...nope, I grabbed that one off the interwebs a while back. Just a shot I found somewhere that points out the stupidity of it sometimes.

A billboard telling you don’t text, with a caption saying text here for more info...how dumb can you get? A billboard telling you to do exactly what it warns you not to do...

I’ve never seen the actual billboard.

Just like with DUI law, where they keep moving the “impaired” BAC level lower and lower, this is nothing more than another cash grab by the state/provincial governments.

Nannys. Not fond of overbearing do-gooders.
