yes, exactly, they always want to have a quick reference point for whatever it is they are talking about.
And people such as Obama, who speak of the arc of civil rights “from Selma to Stonewall” as he once put it, seek to link homosexuality to the right to vote and other rights.
I sometimes wonder if that line “from Selma to Stonewall” was original with Obama, and/or which speechwriter came up with that line and thought he/she was so clever in doing so.
