I lived in Portland from 82-95 - it was a lovely place then for the most part. I miss those days

I was born in Portland in 1955. Moved to AZ in 1985 but still went back to visit family, most recently in 2004 or so. It was a really fine city in the 60s and 70s, but the deterioration was well under way by the 90s.

Now that the family has all died or moved away, I’ll probably never go there again.

We vacationed there five years ago. Took the train from the airport to our hotel and had a great time downtown. Food trucks, nice shopping, clean. As for rain, it only sprinkled one day of our trip (which were were told was odd for the time of year we were there). We rented a car to visit the waterfalls. The hiking trails were incredible. The garden in the city was so nice.

And now it is a dangerous place for tourists. So sad.

Those days are gone. The “Rose City” has been poisoned by liberalism. I won’t return, ever.
