I’m pointing out that neither Schumer nor Pelosi has *any* control over Democratic Reps or Senators. They raise their own money and run in their own primaries for House or Senate seats. We railed at Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell, but they have very little leverage over the GOP caucus. Justin Amash could still win his primary. But in Europe, he would have been struck off the next ballot. No prospect of going against the party unless he wanted to leave politics or run as an independent. In Europe, AOC would never have made it onto the ballot - no primaries there. Party leaders decide who gets to run.
