Schmucky is angling for a bigger amnesty deal with his friends, the Bush League Republicans.
He gives them their way on paying for resettlement of this batch and gets amnesty for all of them down the road.
This is a perfect example of how pathetically hopeless things are. Republicans now consider it a big win when they’re able to provide billions of dollars in additional funding to accommodate and incentivize an invading army without doing a single thing to secure the border.
