But what they did to another person’s body is extreme. Assault? Battery? Maybe they’re kids, but they know better and acted more like animals than humans. Going to pretend prison for two years isn’t enough, IMO.
That’s fine. Just give a beating would have been fine with me.
Whatever potential they had is gone now. Two years in a state prison change who you are.

So? They are criminals! They should’ve received an appropriate number of lashes to remind them of the pain suffered by their fellow student before spending the two years in jail. It would give them something to think about.

It is still a violent assault on the victim, and those “kids” are old enough to know better. Tell me, if the victim developed an infection that deep muscle tissue damage crippling him for life, or lead to Fournier’s gangrene and possibly even death would you still support 2 years in “juvie”?
